Cape Town is the seat of
South Africa's parliament, and the headquarters of many major local and
international companies as well as the centre for commerce, industry,
manufacturing and agriculture. With first world transport, telecommunications, financial
and commercial infrastructures, attractive financial incentives and a skilled
workforce, the Cape is poised to become one of the worlds fastest growing
manufacturing and commercial sectors.
Against the spectacular
backdrop of Table Mountain, the oldest city in South Africa is a must on any
itinerary. Robben Island, the infamous prison that once held ex President
Mandela, has recently been opened for public. Chapman's Peak Drive is one of
the world's most spectacular scenic routes, while Duiker Island, a seal and sea
bird sanctuary, can be visited by boat. Cape Town has a variety of beaches,
including the unofficial nudist beach at Sandy Bay. Signal Hill, in Green
Point, houses the Noon Day Gun. The World of Birds is one of the largest bird
parks in the world.
The Victoria & Alfred
Waterfront, Greenmarket Square flea market and Mariner's Wharf Seafood Emporium
are prime shopping spots. On the list of things to see and do is the Castle of
Good Hope, the oldest building in the country, the City Hall overlooking Cape
Town's historical squares, the Grand Parade, the Cultural History Museum, the
flower sellers of Adderley Street, the Houses of Parliament, the Jewish Museum,
Koopman's De Wet House, Martin Melck House and Michaelis.
In 2010 the Mother City, Cape
Town, will be a beautiful stage for the World Soccer Championship!!!!!!!!!!!!
